The usage of herbs was first mentioned in written form still 6000 years ago by the Sumerians. Then phyto-therapy was widely practiced in Old Greece and Rome. Armenia also has an ancient and rich history in this field. 3200 particularly valuable herb-species were famous, many of which were exported to Ancient Rome and Greece. Up to the present they are being exported to many countries. So it is not surprising that the ’’Mega Ararat’’ company which is well- known for its curing herbs, berries and fruits has commenced a production of new tea assortments. Ararat Valley, the Alp meadows and highlands of Armenia are rich in vivifying and useful plants. From ancient times our ancestors made mixtures from dried plants (herbs), berries and even from leaves the use of which was affirmed by Mchitar Heratzi and Amirdovlat Amasiatzi. Taking into consideration the varieties of Armenian plants, Mchitar A. Matevosyan founded the “Mega Ararat” company in Vayotz Dzor, which beginning from 2005 started to study the rich nature of the surroundings and in a short period undertook the production of mint, thyme (Tisanne), Rose Hip, Hawthorn teas. Enlarging its activity, the company now also produces high-qualified black and green teas, which are imported from Georgia. The teas produced by the «Mega Ararat» company have undergone scientific-medical studies and have been guaranteed by appropriate certificates. The company gets the herbs with the help of the nearby population. The processes of drying and cultivating are realized by fixed standards. For the purpose of preserving the taste and aroma, the production is offered to the market by means of foil and special packs. “Mega Ararat” company is determined to enlarge its assortments by producing teas of different fruit mixtures, such as mulberry, cornel, peach, apricot, pomegranate.
